Day 254 of 365
If the shoe fits Today I had an adventure at one of my favorite shoe stores. I was on a mission that had absolutely nothing to do with shoes and there it was... A MAGIC SLATE I flashed back to my childhood, to the plastic and cardboard that kept me entertained for hours. As I did a google search for this post I couldn't believe there were so many different styles and I screen grabbed the Donnie & Marie slate because I wished I had one. If I remember correctly mine was very ge

Day 253 of 365
Raindrops on skin It’s been an interesting day. So often I make plans and something seems to get in the way. Today I got in my own way and it felt pretty wonderful. On day 253 I stripped away everything and had my very first naked rain dance. This wasn’t a whimsical decision. It has been on my list from the very beginning. I didn’t know when it would happen but for some reason today felt exactly right. It was a moment of real freedom. I wouldn’t say that I have body issues bu

Day 252 of 365
Don't worry As a kid there was a plaque on the wall at my house the read: Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain

Day 251 of 365
Migraines If this was a perfect world so many things would have been different on day 251. Every year the small town of Burlington holds an event called Chocolatefest. I have lived in this area most of my life and I've NEVER been to this insane celebration of chocolate. Today I joined the annual festival parade which also lands on Memorial Day. Here's where the headache begins. Heat and sunshine are a perfect combination for dehydration and a trigger for migraines. Don't you

Day 250 of 365
Waffling It's a travel day and an early one. The morning was cool and with suitcases in hand I made my way to experience number 250, waffle cone making. It's 730am. The iron is at baking temperature and the batter has been mixed. I've already tasted the flavor of the morning, vegan lavender ice cream. This was a first flavor for me and as tasty as it is I would rather have a giant scoop of the mint chip or the black licorice. The sample of treats are gone and I'm ready to rol

Day 249 of 365
I am not and Island. And neither is the destination of today's adventure even though it is called Bainbridge Island. After 249 days I finally had an island/non-island adventure by ferry boat. This day was jam packed with firsts. I walked uphill both ways. In Seattle it is completely possible to walk from one end of the city and back again and hit hills in every direction. I've been experiencing this for the last four days and I find it exhausting. Why did I go to Bainbridge i

Day 248 of 365
Fillet of fish I have never held a whole uncut salmon. I have eaten many fillets but never learned how to cut one. On my 248th day of experiences I had my moment as an apron wearing fish wife. If you google that term you will read that there are a few meanings. Many are appropriate to me and that inspires a few giggles. This morning was exciting and a tiny bit intimidating as I walked beside heaps of beautiful seafood. The salmon are piled high and my teacher is already hard

Day 247 of 365
Glass and needles Seattle is a typical big city. Endless opportunities for food, stop and go traffic and old and new architecture of every form. On day 247 I got a chance to explore two classic Seattle locations ;Chihuly garden & glass and the Space Needle. The garden and glass location was pretty spectacular. Dale Chihluly is a masterful artist and the gallery at the base of the Space Needle has an overwhelming display of blown glass art. After our walk through the garden o

Day 246 of 365
Sleepless and Seattle The time change is wonderful. It's 6am. I'm in Seattle and the window of the apartment is open. I can hear the sounds of Pike Place market. What's a chick to do so early in the morning in a city she's never visited? Starbucks! If you're a coffee drinker, and you enjoy Starbucks this is the town to HIT-IT! I've been told that the line out the door of the original store can get hours long. It's a little like waiting for a roller coaster at Six Flags. I ord

Day 245 of 365
It's a go! I have exactly 120 days left of this 365 day personal challenge. It hasn't gone exactly as I thought it would and I'm admitting right now that I wanted more action in my 49th year. Today I made a commitment to take a few more risks and use the healthy body that I have. I'm not going to jump out of anything moving or off of anything stable. I do plan to try that hot air balloon ride that I said I never would and maybe run a zip line or take that Royal Gorge helicopt
