Day 192 of 365
Almost and not Day 192 was my very first adventure in Indianapolis, Indiana I started my morning at the Pop Culture Association conference. This full circle moment brought me to a lecture about the characters in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The Buffyverse is a huge part of who I am and I was excited. The discussion went a bit off course and I'll admit it was a little disappointing. Not every adventure is a good one. After my trip down memory lane I had an amazing moment of pride

Day 191 of 365
Mobile and Lucas Oil I learned to use a 3D printer on day 190 and decided to make something from those tiny creations. On my 191st day I built my very first 3D printed mobile. The best part of this adventure was using the materials I printed along with a spool of wire I had in a box of craft supplies. If you’ve ever made a mobile you understand that balance is essential to making it work. I’m not balanced lately but after hours of bending and clipping wire this angel and butt

Day 190 of 365
Angels and butterflies I've got these amazing beings in my life who give me great joy. Today I got to spend time with one of them who taught me how to build angels and butterflies with a computer. On the 190th day I learned how to 3D print. In an undisclosed location we scanned into the computer lab. This super high-tech environment had rainbow spools of material in a cabinet filled with exciting supplies. The technology involved looks intimidating and I wouldn't want to have

Day 189 of 365
Hakunna Matata I'm a little under the weather today and posting from the tiny bubble that I've closed myself in to get over this cold. My amazing niece brought some cheer and her ukulele and taught me to play a little song. I wasn't sure I would make my challenge goal today as I'm tired, achy and my head is pounding. The song she taught me is a classic and also a cheerful one. Hakunna Matata It's five chords and if you've never played a ukulele it's fun and a little tricky. T

Day 188 of 365
Something's sour. What's your favorite bread? Have you made it yourself or do you buy it at the store? Have you read the ingredients? Believe it or not I have never made sourdough bread and on day 188 I started to do just that. If you’ve been reading all of my posts so far you’ll know that I enjoy multiple day experiences but I am extremely impatient. This bread requires something called a starter which requires time and patience. Back to my pantry, where I’m growing kombucha

Day 187 of 365
Healing power of food I do a lot of things to my body that aren't necessarily great or even good. It's mostly because those things are exciting and they taste or feel good. In the last 187 days I have chewed, sipped, licked, sucked and bitten some really intense things. I've pushed myself to be outside of my bubble of comfort and that's making this challenge extremely personal and... well... challenging. What I realized was that I had not explored the healing properties of th

Day 186 of 365
Gelli paint About ten days ago I made a fantastic Gelli Plate. I didn't share what the plan was for it but today you get to find out. My 186th adventure was getting my hands dirty and printing with my Gelli plate. The process was extremely fun and if you've got a budding artist I suggest you try this on your next day together. I stored my plate in a giant ziplock and since it's gelatin it stuck to that plastic bag. It was a little like having a ball of booger stuck on your fi

Day 185 of 365
The things you do for love. I love peanut butter but I really don't like peanuts. I had no idea that 1 ounce of peanut butter has 8 grams of protein. I'm monitoring protein, not for myself but for my mom. I do a lot of things for her these days and on Day 185 I made peanut butter. This wasn't a complex thing but I really wanted to see how difficult it was and if I purchased organic nuts, could I make organic peanut butter on my own. This was successful and not only did it tur

Day 184 of 365
A peep show It's almost easter. When I was a kid there were a few things that were holiday essentials. The Life Saver candy storybook at Christmas and marshmallow peeps for Easter. On day 184 I went to my very first Peep art show. This was AMAZING! The Racine Art Museum is a small place and the exhibit was even smaller but it was so fun. The art pieces were all over the place when is came to themes. Harry Peepter, Jurassic Peep, a Peep flip book, Olympic peeps with a curling

Day 183 of 365
Amazing Grass This morning's experience gave me a new perspective on the old saying, "the grass is greener." I went into this adventure "full on" eager to be energized. It was mostly just gross. On day 183 I consumed my very first wheatgrass drink. This is how it went. In powder form the little packet of greens looks harmless. I poured it into a mason jar so I could add water and shake it. It smelled a little like grass clippings on the mower deck after rain forced you to sto
