Day 223 of 365

I delivered a eulogy today. I can’t even come up with a single thing that’s good about eulogizing my mother.

She was placed in a columbarium that already had her name etched in stone. This was one of the longest days of my life and it happened in the blink of an eye.

I’m still waiting for mom to come outside and call us in for dinner.

I’m not going to say that I didn’t take my mother for granted. I’m 49 and honest enough to admit my imperfections. I consider myself one of the luckiest people because her blood is in my veins. I also sat with her for many days and had the privilege of seeing how strong she was. I had no idea.

Tonight we ate every grandchild’s favorite breakfast . . . banana splits. Nana would approve.
