Day 68 of 365
When you start a really big project there are milestones that you can't wait to hit and once you experience them a sense of relief comes from accomplishing your goals. In my bathroom, it all started with a drip in the kitchen ceiling. When this happened we had no idea how much fun was ahead for us.
Today we hit a big milestone. We finally have all the tile in place and are ready for grout. Most stages up to this point have been enjoyable but none have made me as happy as smushing grout into the cracks and crevices of my wall and floor. This means we are only days away from actually taking a shower or using the jet tub again.
You've been on this journey with me as what was broken is now fixed. I'm wrinkled and pruned from endless hand washing. I think the paint and the dust and the cement and grout have taken their toll on my skin. It's been worth it. I've learned so much about things that I've always held back from doing. None of them are incredibly complicated but the techniques involved have been intimidating.
As much as I am excited to hit the grout stage of this bathroom repair, I've decided that I'm not ever going to become a tile woman. It's just not for me. I'm a technology person and I'm happy there.
Although there will not be pictures of me christening the tub or shower, I'm sure I'll let you know when it happens. I think this new found admiration of cement and grout have motivated me to try making a mosaic. Maybe you'll get to experience that one with me.
Day 68 was rough on the hands but we've almost made it to the finish line.
